The items needed for this glitter project are a pumpkin, metallic polyester glitter (though craft glitter can also be used), Elmer's Clear Glue, and a medium paint brush. You can use fake or real pumpkins. The ones in this blog are artificial.
When choosing what type and size of glitter to use, think of the size of sparkle you would like. The finer the glitter the less you need and the smaller the sparkle. When you use a bigger flake of glitter (0.040 or larger) the sparkle will be larger however, you will need to use more glitter in your glue.
For this glitter project, I mixed the glitter into the glue. I then painted the glitter glue onto the body of the pumpkin with the paintbrush. I did this under a bright light, to get a more consistent coverage with the glitter glue.
You could also paint the glue onto your decoration and then press the glitter into the glue. This method tends to have more sparkle but, the glitter will flake off a bit (unless sealed).
After the glitter glue has dried you may find areas that have less glitter than you wanted. You can paint more of the glitter glue mix over those spots. Make sure to cover the container that you mixed your glitter and glue in so it does not dry out.
These glitter pumpkins can make a sparkly table decoration, desktop decoration, part of a table centerpiece, or you can add them to your other Thanksgiving decorations.
