Glitter Pumpkins with Mod Podge

These glitter pumpkins and gourds are great for all the Fall holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, you name it)!

For this project, I used Mod Podge Gloss. I mixed the glitter with the Mod Podge for this project. You can also paint the Mod Podge onto the pumpkin or gourd then dip or sprinkle and press into/onto the pumpkin or gourd. An over coat can be sprayed or painted on to avoid glitter faking off if needed (over coating like this lessens the sparkle of the glitter, so try to do light coats). When you mix the glitter into the Mod Podge it tends not to flake off as much (or at all).

The process that was utilized was to add the glitters to the glue and then paint the mixture onto the gourd (or pumpkin). This was done in stages as I had to wait for the glue to set before I could paint the bottom and the stem. I used Craft & Polyester glitters for this project. Either work fine with Mod Podge.

I mixed about a 1/2 teaspoon to two tablespoons of Mod Podge glue. A little glitter goes a long way, one ounce of glitter will cover one foot (12 inches by 12 inches) of space.

If you find that there are spots that do not have enough glitter for your liking, paint over the spots with your extra glue. This pumpkin took about 2 tablespoons of glue (my gourd was approx. 4 inches across).

I even painted the stem for a little more glimmer to the decoration.
