This is a long video that covers lots of different information. From restoring furniture to using Polycrylic to fun ideas, this video takes you through it all. The piece was a tired old 1950's vanity with mirror that had seen better days but was solid. Now that we are done with it, the vanity is ready for a whole new life in this century.

Comments:
We find that Polycrylic is a decent adhesive, but not the best by far. We feel the same way about it as a sealer. It tends to dull the beautiful shine. We like it due to its low odor and ease of control. Polyester glitters will work with Polycrylic and most craft glitters. However, any glitter with aluminum coatings may have issues with water-based mediums if they become too warm. When that happens off gassing may occur. Also, some craft glitters may bleed, change color, or clump (be sure to test).
We are more likely to use Solvent Urethane or epoxy as a sealer when using solvent-resistant polyester glitters. Those two mediums offer very little blockage to the sparkle and in some ways enhance it through the overall high gloss appearance.
If you choose to use Solvent Urethane to seal (like we did in the video), spraying is best. You can hand brush it and even flow coat it, but spraying is the best. If you have a compressor and gun then grab it and go. If not, below is a low cost option that you might take a look at.

When spraying solvent-based sealers, be sure to use solvent-resistant glitters. We sell a large selection of them in the "floors" section of our website. You can find them here.
HVLP Adventurous Beginner- If you have never sprayed and do not own a compressor, this is the unit we recommend. For under $125 you are ready to start learning how to spray. It comes with a 1.5 tip so you can spray Ultra Fine glitters (.008).

HVLP Semi-Pro to Pro- If you own a decent air compressor then this is the gun we recommend. Mid range in price and comes with the 1.5 tip that is great for Ultra Fine glitters (.008). Be sure to buy the one for use with solvents!
