Using Polyester Glitter
For a 4th of July parade we entered a Unicorn Float with an adorable Cowgirl Fairy rider. Of course, she needed a pair of glitter boots to make the costume come together. In this video, we show you a surprising and great option for glittering a shiny leather surface.
Comments: Shiny leather can be tricky. A lot of water-based glues will not stick to the surface. We tried many of the traditional crafting and fabric glues and settled on our favorite Ever Clear Solvent Urethane. It is not meant for leather, but it sure worked great for us! In the video, we mentioned that you can do a coat over the top to keep the glitter from flaking. This is true, but you might just find that it is not needed. The urethane grabbed the glitter so well that we found that flaking was not an issue.
Note: Cowboy boots are not overly flexible. If you had super flexible shiny leather boots you really should test before diving in with this urethane.
Glitter Type: You need to use only solvent-resistant glitters with Ever Clear. You can find them in the Solvent Resistant Glitter section of the site.
